BEULT CONCERTS

Professional Concerts in the Weald

Beult Concerts was formed in 2013 by Hugh and Sally Sparrow. Our aim is to promote professional Concerts in the Weald of Kent, bringing the highest standard of musicianship to the area we live and love.

The River Beult runs from Headcorn to Yalding, weaving through Kent's rich fields, orchards and meadows.

Hugh & Sally Sparrow

Hugh Sparrow is Co-Principal Double Bass at English National Opera, a position he has held for over ten years. Hugh won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music in 1997 among his professors were Robin McGee. Hugh teaches at Junior Royal Academy of Music. Hugh also freelances with the London Symphony Orchestra, Orchestra of the Royal Opera House as well as many others.

Sally Sparrow is an Arts professional with almost 20 years experience. She is currently Fellowship Director for the Philip Loubser Fundation and is and Orchestra/Concerts Manager for L'Orchestre du Monde amongst a few other musical bits and bobs. Previously she has been Head of Music Administration for English National Opera, Chorus Manager (maternity cover) also for ENO, Orchestra Manager for the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and has worked for Sony Classical International Record Label.

Hugh enjoys skiing and has to be allowed to go for a week every year or else complains bitterly for the remaining 51 weeks. Sally enjoys trying to play jazz saxophone and spends some time pretending she knows what to do in the garden.

They both love Kent having moved in 2011. Hugh and Sally's two children are William born 2009 and Honor born 2010.

Helena Wood, Director & Soloist

Beult Concerts' Soloists and Director played an astonishing Beethoven Violin Concert with the RTE National Symphony Orchestra in Dublin, the Orchestra which she is usually Leader.
